After the PRINCE2 Breakfast Briefing yesterday, disaster nearly struck ... simply, dear reader, because I am an idiot.
John, Eileen our Operations Manager, and I withdrew to the nearby Pret a Manger for a short debrief meeting. After the meeting, having loaded up everything, we drove through London and back to Oxfordshire, delayed 45 minutes by a crash on the Motorway.
It was only when I pulled up at home and looked in the car for my computer bag containing my house keys that I realised I had left back in London ... in Pret!!
I rang the cafe and spoke to the manager, Bebe (I think), who was very helpful, confirmed I was the owner of the bag. It had been retrieved by the staff and secured by the manager. So I went back - this time by rail on a cheap day return ticket - and met Bebe. I left a card for his team but he suggested that I record something on their website which I have just done.
Then I read this message:
Thank you so much for letting us know we've done something well. If you've said something nice about a shop team or a member of our staff we'll make sure it's passed on to them (and their boss, and their boss's boss). If you've commented on a product, we'll let our food team know. Whatever you've said will be added to our weekly report that's passed round the whole company. Clive, Julian, and the rest of the directors pore over it every Tuesday.
So now, I'm not only mightily relieved to have my bag, computer, keys and notebooks back; but I am also very impressed with this company.
And links well to the "Lessons Log" in your earlier blog

Yep, Pret - generally consistently great. Plus an hour's free wi-fi, which is how it should be everywhere...
