If you are in Oxford on Thursday afternoon you are welcome to come and hear me speak as part of a seminar series hosted by the BT Centre for Major Programme Management at the Said Business School. I'll be speaking on UK Government Guidance on Programme Management: its genesis and content.
A methodology ... is written by smart people and can be used by dumb people.
Tom deMarco and Tim Lister, Peopleware
Methodologies, how they are written and how they are used and abused has been something I have been wrestling with now for the last eighteen years. If over-prescriptive methods have no place in project management, then this is the case even more so when it comes to the robust world of programme management.
I'll be sharing some thoughts and insights as to how we endeavoured not to go down the prescriptive/legalistic route with MSP and how this worked itself out in our design approach. If you can come along, please say, 'Hi'.
