« OneNote Blogging | Main | The PRINCE2 Practitioner Exam is NOT Dumbing Down »

28 May 2007

Is the NDA dampening my blog?

As some of you are aware:

  1. A while back I was invited to join the authoring team that has resulted in the third edition of MSP – to be published 27th June.
  2. I have not been posting much over the last few weeks.

These two facts are not entirely unrelated. When I agreed to the authoring challenge TSO, the publisher of MSP, asked me to sign an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) that applies to the content we have been working on.

As a result, as I've grown quietly more and more excited about the manual – it addresses transformational change much more as an explicit theme and the 3rd edition is a step-change, I believe, in itself – the more constrained I have felt about writing publicly on such matters.

However, soon all will be revealed. My company, pearcemayfield, is going to be part of the launch of the new edition at the Best Practice Showcase . John Edmonds will be hosting a detailed Briefing for MSP practitioners, inviting me and two of my fellow authors – Rod Sowden and Geof Leigh (see picture) – as a Birds of a Feather (BOF) session. There will be an opportunity to 'grill an author' to ask why-type questions. My spies tell me that almost all the places have been taken up. Nevertheless, you can still book on a series of Breakfast Briefings we will be running around the UK in the weeks following, providing people with a taster of the new edition.

Also on the 27th I will also be hosting a presentation by Dr Chris Towler of Imperial College, about the challenges of beginning a major programme without a Vision. So it's not like I've been totally idle.

So I'm sorry, dear reader, if I've been neglecting you. There'll be more to come on this over the next few weeks.
